That loyalty soon bore fruit: in the early twentieth century, during San Sebasti\u00e1n\u2019s golden age as a tourist destination, the pastry shop became the official supplier to the Spanish Royal House \u2014 Queen Regent Maria Christina was particularly fond of the firm\u2019s almond sponge cake.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"PoromisinA\"><span class=\"Ninguno\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Today, the third and fourth generations of the family continue to uphold these values, guaranteeing strictly artisan processes and using the finest ingredients.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"PoromisinA\"><span class=\"Ninguno\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">From its ovens have emerged creations as famous as the <i>Pantxineta<\/i>, an original masterpiece by Emiliana Malcorra, who created this puff pastry tart filled with cream and topped with a crunchy layer of toasted almonds nearly <\/span><\/span><span class=\"Ninguno\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">a century ago. Since then,<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> many pastry chefs have tried to make their own versions of this delight, but none have matched Otaegui\u2019s rendition, which has become the city\u2019s most emblematic dessert \u2014 and perhaps that of the entire Basque Country. <span class=\"Ninguno\">Every day, hundreds of visitors come to taste the <i>Pantxineta<\/i> at the firm\u2019s shops on Calle Matia, Calle San Mart\u00edn, and especially Calle Narrika, home to their most iconic location, distinguished by its <\/span><\/span><span class=\"Ninguno\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">marble fa\u00e7ade, checkerboard flooring, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"Ninguno\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">and 1930s wooden furnishings.
