In 2024, the Michelin Guide introduced a new distinction meant to highlight accommodation options that take the art of hospitality to the highest level, thus contributing to creating unique experiences: the Michelin Key. In the first edition in Spain, 97 hotel establishments obtained said recognition, only twelve of which were awarded two Michelin Keys. Among those establishments is the Akela\u0155e Hotel of San Sebasti\u00e1n, which is part of the Relais & Ch\u00e2teaux association of individually owned and operated hotels.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1970, Akela\u0155e Restaurant has received numerous awards for its culinary excellence over the years. In 2017, Chef Pedro Subijana took a bold step by opening the hotel, thus becoming one of the few three-Michelin-starred restaurants in the world to have its own five-star lodge. In collaboration with the architectural studio Mecanismo, Akela\u0155e was designed and built with a meticulous focus on its harmonious integration into the surrounding environment.
