In order to highlight their professional, citizen, and commercial labors, the contemporary art galleries of San Sebasti\u00e1n (Arteko, Arteztu, Cibri\u00e1n, and Ekain Arte Lanak) founded the San Sebasti\u00e1n Art Gallery Association in 2021. Their respective collections and exhibition programs, which round off the city’s wide array of cultural offerings, are well worth a visit.<\/p>\n

Arteko<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since opening its doors in 1996, Arteko has paid special attention to the ever-changing world of art, embracing a diverse array of artistic disciplines and visions. Arteko participates in national and international fairs, supports the dissemination of art through digital media, and promotes the work of creators like Nori Ushijima, Dora Salazar, Jaime de los R\u00edos, Mari Puri Herrero, and Isabel Herguera.<\/p>\n

Arteztu<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to being a gallery where works by artists with a proven track record are proudly displayed, a special emphasis is also placed on young, emerging artists. Arteztu is a project\/space for meeting, creating, and disseminating art that, thanks to its closeness with its public, aims to put local artists on display and provide them with visibility while at the same time attracting different exhibition proposals to the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Cibri\u00e1n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cibri\u00e1n’s exhibition program is shaped by its geographical context; thus, the gallery’s entire economy and balance depend on its ability to rethink modes of production and exhibition, generating new audiences and expectations. To do this, the gallery invites emerging and established artists to work with local resources and knowledge in hopes that the resulting ecology opens up new critical resources to both local communities and artists.<\/p>\n

Ekain Arte Lanak<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ekain Arte Lanak gallery is a dynamic space for creation and contemporary thinking revolving around Basque art. Located in the heart of the Old Quarter of San Sebasti\u00e1n, it has 120m2<\/sup> of space divided into three areas: the exhibition hall, the gallery collection, and the guest artist space, where the exhibitions rotate, housing projects by both established artists and emerging talents.<\/p>\n
