In the last edition of the “Gipuzkoa de Moda” Fashion Festival, held at the San Telmo Museum\u2019s church in San Sebasti\u00e1n, jeweler Alex Vallejo presented a piece that captivated the audience due to its beauty and uniqueness: a glass chest in which a dancer in rose gold, diamonds, and white quartz rotates.<\/p>\n
Like in the piece by Hans Christian Andersen, \u201cThe Steadfast Tin Soldier,\u201d the creations of Alex Vallejo took life on the catwalk thanks to Verdini Dantza Taldea, a contemporary dance company that contributes to the social recognition of people with functional diversity. Thus, the dancers took the central nave of the church as their stage, wearing Vallejo\u2019s jewels: dancer pendants and earrings featuring tanzanite gemstones, rubies, and heart-shaped diamonds, among others. A silver-chain dress designed and manufactured by the jeweler was also featured.<\/p>\n
The 2021 edition was the second consecutive edition of the \u201cGipuzkoa de Moda\u201d Festival in which Alex Vallejo participated, but his professional career is much more extensive than just that: this jeweler, who specializes in diamonds, has been designing and creating custom pieces in his workshop in San Sebasti\u00e1n for more than 25 years. Vallejo updates his clients\u2019 old jewels, creates handcrafted pieces to his customers\u2019 suiting, and presents his own collection each season featuring demountable pieces that allow for versatility in terms of their use in different formats depending upon the occasion: a bracelet can \u2013for example\u2013 become a brooch, a necklace, or earrings. Visiting his workshop leads us to remember Andersen\u2019s famous quote, which said: \u201cEverything you look at can become a fairy tale and you can get a story from everything you touch.\u201d<\/p>\n
