Headed up by the cabinetmaker and architect Lorenzo Garc\u00eda, La Casa Rota is a creative space in San Sebasti\u00e1n conceived for the construction of exclusive wooden objects in which design and structural conception go hand in hand. Among its most outstanding pieces are its jewelry boxes, created in collaboration with prestigious jewelry designers and made by hand using noble woods \u2013some recovered from old buildings\u2013 such as eastern black walnut, ebony, and brazilwood.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Lluvia I <\/span><\/b>(Picture above)<\/span><\/p>\n

Featuring a curly maple frame and ebony inlays, Lluvia I (‘Rain I’) \u2013representing the warm summer rain\u2013 has two maple drawers with brazilwood front faces and ebony handles. The jewelry box’s base and side trim are made of Indian rosewood, and the clasp hardware is solid silver with a rosewood handle.\u00a0<\/span>(\u20ac 1,179.75)<\/span><\/p>\n

Lluvia II<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

This jewelry box, whose name can be translated as ‘Rain II,’ shares its design with its partner, Lluvia I, although it differs in a couple of details: the base and side trim are ebony, and its dark finish reminds us of the rain on a stormy night.\u00a0<\/span>(\u20ac 1,179.75)<\/span><\/p>\n

Amanecer<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Amanecer (‘Dawn’) is a metaphor for the passage from night to day: a dark cube \u2013which symbolizes the night\u2013 made with the wood from an elm beam that is over 150 years old hides inside a jewelry box \u2013the day\u2013 with four curly maple drawers featuring solid silver handles. The base is ebony, which is also the material used to outline the edges of the cube. <\/span>(\u20ac 1,542.75)<\/span><\/p>\n

Gilda<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

With a cinematic appearance, Gilda is an elegant jewelry box featuring nine drawers and a separate secret compartment that is made of eastern black walnut, maple, and ebony. It is an exclusive piece that has been completely handcrafted and features traditional cabinetmaking techniques and a lacquer finish applied by hand.\u00a0<\/span>(\u20ac 3,932.50)<\/span><\/p>\n
