The Cibri\u00e1n Gallery of San Sebasti\u00e1n was conceived in 2018 with the aim of implementing a change in Basque Contemporary Art by giving a voice to young creative ventures, as well as to more established artists, and generating a constant dialog between new discourses that emerge at the international level and those that reflect a strong local identity.<\/p>\n
Cibri\u00e1n has been able to bring together, in the same space and time, works by artists like\u00a0Gerhard Richter, Tauba Auerbach, \u00c1ngela de la Cruz, Wade Guyton, Marie Mul, Oscar Tuazon, Jessica Warboys, Kate Newby, Agn\u00e8s Varda, Stan Douglas, Barbara Hammer, Joan Fontcuberta, Requer, and Magali Reus, combining them with the work of local creators like Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Amondarain, I\u00f1aki Gracenea, Nagore Amenabarro, Txuspo Poyo, and\u00a0Manu Muniategiandikoetxea.<\/p>\n
Since its opening, the gallery has designed an exhibition schedule of utmost quality and in line with current trends, becoming a great artistic showcase on the international scene. In addition to its meticulously selected collective exhibitions, there have also been several individual exhibitions: El intrusismo del inspector<\/em>, a critical look at censorship and control by the Cuban government through the lens of Havana-born Leandro Feal’s camera; Deep Fields,<\/em> a reflection on the limits of visual perception under the watchful eye of the Frenchwoman F\u00e9licie d\u2019Estienne d\u2019Orves; and Suma de oscuros<\/em>, a sample of the most recent work by the enigmatic artist Gustavo P\u00e9rez Monz\u00f3n.<\/p>\n This gallery’s exceptional, novel nature has brought art enthusiasts, collectors, and professionals to closely watch the steps that this project takes. Its impeccable curatorial work (supervised by the gallery’s founder and director, Gregorio Cibri\u00e1n) and a presence at international fairs have helped this space’s reputation to take off, making it a contemporary art leader in the Basque Country.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
