A taste for extravagance, respect for tradition, and passion for craftsmanship can be felt in every corner of Veluto, a concept store focused on the world of decoration, interior design, and art. This surprising two-story shop located in the center of San Sebastián is divided into different spaces where antiques, unique furniture, designer kitchens, lighting, limited edition books, niche perfumery and fragrances for the home, works of art, decorative items, exclusive candles, and other oddities are all on display.
Every visit to Veluto is a new discovery, as the shop’s ambient is constantly changing and being renewed. There are collector’s books by Gestalten, Assouline, and Phaidon, glass lamps from Murano, Italian glassware, and collector’s pieces by different designers like Starck and Sormani.
Veluto works with a number of artisans and artists to create custom pieces that are sold exclusively in the store. The mix of materials and shapes creates volumes that give rise to select, unique pieces which complement spaces and provide them with a sense of scope and coherence. The pieces are a manifesto of a lifestyle, of a taste for the savoir faire which lies in perfect stitching and impactful corners.
In this era of catalogs and “cookie cutter” products, the people at Veluto continue to value the concept of “tailor made” – so made-to-measure, so personalized… nothing quite like it; they shy away from labels, in turn allowing the customer to enjoy something truly unique.
At the helm of Veluto is Iñigo Iriarte, who got into to the world of design at the beginning of the century, inheriting a taste for craftsmanship and having a marked inclination for the textile world. And Veluto is just the prelude to Iñigo’s world, a world topped off by the interior design studio and the product division, where atmospheres are created in which time seems to stand still and ideas emerge from the past to be projected into the future: spaces of coexistence and dialog between styles and eras featuring an abundance of personality and a pinch of exceptionality.
