Myriam Larrea is a decorator whose contemporary style, which adapts to the realities of the space and the client, is recognizable yet provides a personal flair to projects. From her studio –a unique space with two floors on Paseo Colon in San Sebastián– Myriam designs interiors that stand out for their originality in terms of materials, textures, volumes, and excellent lighting. Her passion for her work puts her at the forefront of all the latest decoration trends. She is not dependent on any one brand or point of reference; thus, she can act with total freedom so as to create without regard to established standards.
Myriam’s resounding empathy is fundamental for her to understand what the expectations for each project are and to be able to contribute ideas and achieve a result that is even better than what her clients had in mind. To accomplish that type of design, she painstakingly works on the layout and distribution of the room, trying to make it as usable as possible and taking care of every detail. She is likewise demanding with the finishes – always aiming for superior quality.
In her renovation projects, she tries to maintain the essence of the space while simultaneously contributing with the necessary ingredients to be able to adapt to the present times. One of her maxims is to follow the guidelines and flows marked by the spaces where she is hired to work, bringing those guidelines and flows together with the client’s own needs and essence.
Throughout her long career, she has designed, led, and executed different projects: she has restored shops, restaurants, and hotels and has renovated a great number of private homes. In 2017, she transformed a historic Neo-Basque building in San Sebastián into a luxury lodge with five rooms. In 2018, she built BASQUE LUXURY STUDIO – our headquarters, where our work of editing BASQUE LUXURY MAGAZINE can be combined with our holding of events and forums. This elegant space was chosen as the “Office of the Month” by the prestigious The New York Times Style Magazine. In 2019 Myriam finished up, among other projects, the restoration of Marisquería del Boulevard, a classic seafood establishment in San Sebastián.
Myriam’s work has something that goes beyond mere aesthetics and functionality. Since we, the editors of this magazine, have moved to our new BASQUE LUXURY STUDIO, we have noticed a lot of details, a priori invisible, that leave no doubt that our office is a space that has been designed for wellness – a place where just being there is a pleasure in and of itself.
