The sea represents the outskirts of our cities and towns; to sail it is to take a major journey, no matter how brief it may be. Amaina proposes a journey to sea on a light, stable, safe, and beautiful sailboat hailed as the best regatta sailboat by the demanding French nautical press.
Those who visit us want to see the Basque Country by land, sea, and air. Sail Sebastian is a new service company and Amaina is its beacon: a state-of-the-art sailboat, the only Pogo 36 available on our entire coastline; a creature that could well have a double personality, residing between two worlds, half bird, half fish… a unique vessel on which to enjoy what the company so proudly states in its motto: the sea by sailing ship and coastal landscape.
With futuristic lines, unsinkable and comfortable, this vessel’s bow has a hunger for nautical miles and good company. Its stern, wide and welcoming, draws a clean wake and a simple, sincere smile wherever it goes, leaving a lasting impression on both guests and crew.
The boat has a sailing capacity for ten people; however, six or eight would be a good number. It can be rented with or without a crew, although we at BASQUE LUXURY recommend you be accompanied by the kindness, discretion, and passion of the vessel’s master, a professional who is intimately familiar with the idiosyncrasies of the Basque coast. Departures may be made from San Sebastián and Hondarribia and you can spend the full day or half the day sailing. Passengers can travel to Getaria or Pasajes for lunch and to visit their museums; the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz to see glorious sunsets, learn and train, maybe have brunch on board after a yoga session or make plans for the weekend or a full week. No matter what idea you may have, good ideas will always get you to the right harbor…
And to make your sailing experience even better, Amaina has a luxury partner: Kofradia, the “fishermen’s house” located in the Port of San Sebastián, specializing in preparing the best and freshest fish caught by the inshore boats of Gipuzkoa. This establishment’s culinary offerings can now be enjoyed on the high seas, thanks to Amaina.
The curtain closes, the sun goes down; it has been a day at sea that has left a lasting impression on the individual but not on the environment…. One final dip, one final fold when packing up the sails, the memory of that smooth glide over the waves, a warm shower, a little music, plates, a tablecloth, and glasses. Never forget.
Amaina awaits you to make you an ambassador of our coastline. A way of being and a way of sailing.
