Uniqueness and avant-garde are what define Ysios. In the municipality of Laguardia, descending amongst vineyards to reach the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, one can see the silhouette of a unique winery that stands as testament to the authenticity of its wines. This area is one of the best in the world for grapevine production, thanks to the combination of a great number of natural elements that help to shape it: different microclimates and soil types, the imposing Sierra de Cantabria, the Ebro River, and the steep slopes, which provide unique conditions for ripening and give the wines an indisputable character and personality.
The entire process of winemaking, from the work in the vineyard to aging and maturing, can be defined by the constant search for unique connections to capture this environment’s potential and produce memorable wines. At the vineyard, the harvest is performed manually. Next, the grapes are transported in small boxes towards the winery to guarantee the maximum freshness and integrity of the cluster, each of which –in turn– is separated manually. From this point forward, the grape goes through a seamless process inside the winery. Likewise, the care of each plot of land is undertaken individually through a process that first and foremostly respects the essence of the origin.
Roberto Vicente, a master winemaker at Ysios, believes in doing things differently, in exploring and going beyond the obvious, taking care of each detail to seek out those connections that bring about something memorable. His goal is clear: to incorporate this philosophy and obtain a contemporary style of wine that enhances the fruit, celebrating the influence that nature has on the production of wine.
The exclusivity of enjoying a unique wine experience reaches its highest level at Club Ysios. Created for true wine lovers, the Club has a space reserved for members to allow them to enjoy private tastings in a one-of-a-kind setting, alongside the barrels of Club Ysios Reserva. A special wine selected by Roberto Vicente himself – a wine that gives connoisseurs a glimpse into the region’s most distinguished and ancient Tempranillo grape vineyards. This is a privilege only available to Club members. This year’s selection, Club Ysios Reserva 2012, was awarded the prestigious Gold Gran Bacchus. BASQUE LUXURY has the honor of belonging to this exclusive Club.
