Located in a nineteenth-century building on Matia Street of San Sebastián, the well-known Anhelo boutique –which specializes in the sale of accessories, hats, complements, and cosmetics– has just expanded its facilities, bringing together the adjoining retail premises and the original store. The new space is dedicated exclusively to the application of beauty treatments, and its range of services includes facial hair removal, eyebrow design, facial treatments, lash lifting, brow tinting (with brow henna by the Australian company Elleebana), as well as makeup, manicure, and pedicure services. For these latter services, they use ecological cosmetics, essential oils, and enamels by the French company Nailmatic (whose products are 84% of natural, organic, and vegan origin, being made from potatoes, cassava, corn, cotton, and wheat), the American 7-free brand CND, and the Madrid-based Handmade Beauty (suitable for celiacs, those with allergies, pregnant women, and minors).
In addition to being able to enjoy beauty treatments in this elegant space, clients can purchase cosmetics from the most reputable international brands in the store itself: lipsticks, eye shadows, cosmetic compacts, and cosmetic pouches by Paul & Joe Beauté; Korean slow cosmetics by Aromatica and Mizon, as well as by the Spanish-Japanese Utsukusy (vegan brands which are barely scented and have high concentrations of active ingredients like snail mucin); ecological natural cosmetics from the French maison Oppidum – without water and with ingredients of a 100% natural origin: butters and vegetable and essential oils; natural and vegan makeup by Saigu, made in Barcelona; and –on a more local level– products by the Navarrese firm Dulkamara Bamboo (chemical-free, biocompatible cosmetics made from bamboo pith and buds, plants, and flowers).
In terms of fragrances, Anhelo sells Maison Abriza’s eaux de toilette; candles and fragrance diffusers by the London-based Sara Miller (now in an attractive porcelain format); Kerzon fabric refresheners, creams, and organic soaps; air fresheners and candles for the home by Ladurée; Claus Porto eau de cologne, body lotions, and soaps; perfumes by Binet-Papillon and Dr. Vranjes, as well as an alcohol-free line by Sabé Masson; perfumes and colognes, bath salts, and candles by the Italian Ortigia; candles and fragrance diffusers by Kew Gardens (London’s botanical garden); fragrance diffusers and spray air fresheners by Un Soir à l’Opéra (a French company dedicated to the manufacture of fragrances inspired by the most famous operas and ballets); and, of course, the Eleana aromatic candle, also available in Mikado reed diffuser and spray format, created by Elena and Ana Orella, the owners of Anhelo. The delicate fragrance of Eleana –with essence of rose, violet, honey, lily, jasmine, and cypress– is the best example of the vast olfactory knowledge and refinement of these two women, who have been at the helm of Anhelo for two decades.
Ana and Elena are also specialists in porcelain and wax headpieces and glass creations and they handcraft high-end bijou pieces and accessories for women and girls. Their collection includes earrings, necklaces, brooches, head scarves, fine headbands, hats decorated with feathers, decorative hair combs, hair clips, scrunchies, Swarovski crystal bracelets, berets, and headpieces with feathers. The success of Ana and Elena in the field of handcrafted high-end bijou jewelry is such that Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa has put a selection of products designed by them on sale in the museum itself.
Anhelo has established itself in the Basque Country as a leader in the sale of its own accessories and products from niche brands – and thanks to the expansion of their boutique, they will surely make a name for themselves in the application of beauty treatments.
