The Spanish jeweler Suarez has reopened the doors of its flagship boutique in Bilbao, located inside the historic Sota Building at Gran Vía 43. Originally inaugurated in 1985, this emblematic space has been renovated to have a contemporary feel that seamlessly fuses the brand’s timeless elegance with a new, warmer aesthetic — one that remains profoundly true to the firm’s essence.
A symbol of Bilbao’s architectural heritage, the Sota Building is now home to a reinterpretation that celebrates both its legacy and singular character. The façade, reimagined with modern flair, includes Suarez’s iconic wrought-iron touches across its arches and display windows, creating a subtle dialogue between the interior and the exterior. The brass entrance door, crafted by the same artisan who collaborated with the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao, opens up to a space conceived as a jewel in and of itself — defined by fine materials, exquisite craftsmanship, and an aesthetic that embodies the brand’s spirit. Inside, the boutique unfolds like a journey designed to awaken the senses. Visitors are guided through the different areas by an exclusive carpet designed by Bruno Moinard which reinterprets the Suarez logo in a delicate beige hue.

The path begins at the first display case, upholstered in the maison’s signature red fabric, leading toward the remodeled Patek Philippe corner, now more spacious after the renovation. To the right there is a bright area dedicated to Omega; to the left, the boutique opens gracefully around the engagement ring area, anchored by a striking collier with exclusive upholstery featuring yellow and blue hues. Each space has been meticulously designed to create an intimate, coherent atmosphere, evoking the harmony and sophistication that have long distinguished the Spanish jeweler.

The new Suarez boutique stands out for its use of natural materials worked by hand. Natural raffia panels, abaca cloth woven with gold thread, and Ritz cowhide leather infuse the environment with light, texture, and warmth. The display cases follow Moinard’s signature palette of red, green, and white hues, while the hand-crafted furniture, designed exclusively for this project, adds a special touch to the atmosphere.
Among the most symbolic elements preserved is the original vault door, a respectful nod to the history and identity of the space. The comprehensive renovation has completely reimagined the boutique’s layout, unifying its levels and creating a fluid, harmonious flow in which natural light, the placement of furnishings, and a play of materials give rise to different atmospheres that coexist in perfect harmony.
Each and every texture and element comes together to form an immersive experience in which subtle lighting enhances volumes, reveals delicate nuances, and transforms all visits into a true sensory journey. This reopening of the boutique at Gran Vía 43 marks a new stage in the brand’s history. Far more than a simple architectural transformation, the space represents the evolution of the Suarez brand, its connection with the city, and its commitment to a contemporary take on luxury.
Like the jewels that bear its name, the boutique has evolved without ever betraying its unmistakable soul. In the heart of the Sota Building, Suarez reaffirms its legacy and role as a beacon of timeless Spanish luxury.
