The famous bay of San Sebastián, formed by the slope of Mount Igueldo, Ondarreta Beach, the Miramar Palace, La Concha Beach (designated by TripAdvisor as one of the best in the world), and the port – that is the view that is available from the Privileged Sea View Room at the Lasala Plaza Hotel. From this position, the Santa Clara Island, embraced by the bay, seems so close that it can almost be reached. This is the privilege of being located in the Old Quarter of the city, just where the Old Quarter and old port meet.
Perched under some old photographs that testify to the passage of time –and to the continuity– of the seafaring oarsmen, a king-sized bed with 300 thread count linen presides over the Privileged Sea View Room. In front of the bed we find a desk with a selection of magazines and a 49-inch smart TV, guarded by velvety armchairs in an intense blue hue that blends with the sea, present at all times through the French-style balcony that lets the sea breeze waft into the bedroom.
The decoration of the room pays tribute to a love for Basque culture. With a design inspired by the French Neoclassical movement, the room uses fine woods and materials that are combined with the latest technology and home automation. The bathroom is made of marble, and has all the comforts to enjoy an invigorating shower: underfloor heating, rain shower head, ionic hairdryer, and anti-fog mirror.
The bedroom’s refreshment area includes a Nespresso coffee machine, an electric kettle, and a minibar stocked with local products. Despite all of this, the best thing is to let yourself be seduced by the flavors of the hotel’s three gastronomic spaces, all of which are headed up by chef Ander González: the tavern, the restaurant, and the spectacular Rooftop by Lasala Plaza which –like the Privileged Sea View Room– offers a panoramic view of La Concha Bay like none other.
