The Basque Country is full of unknown corners, bucolic places that seem as if they were straight out of a movie. Hectares of vineyards, views to the blue water of the Cantabrian Sea, and countryside buildings bathed by the sun – this is the Iturregi Hotel. Luxury accommodation with only eight rooms and featuring a private lake and an outdoor swimming pool built atop the ruins of a centuries-old farmhouse. Its suites and rooms have taken on the names of nearby villages, mountains, and neighborhoods: Orio, Zumaia, Askizu, Iturregi, Getaria, Jaizkibel, Igeldo, and Zarautz. Last summer, while the paparazzi anxiously awaited in front of the hotel’s wrought iron gate to catch a glimpse of the famous individuals staying there as they left, the wedding of Silvia Sierra and Christian Prieto, the brother of Elsa Pataky, was being held inside. Thirty-five guests attended the ceremony, amongst which were, in addition to the actress, other well-known individuals such as the Australian actor Chris Hemsworth and the American star Matt Damon. Both the ceremony and the banquet took place on the property: in the hotel’s main building and in an adjacent canopy tent that was placed in the garden for the occasion.
Iturregi allows for custom events and weddings to be held, provided the entire hotel is booked to ensure the peace and tranquility of its guests. Its elegant rooms, cozy lounges, glassed-in porch, garden, pool, views of the sea, and vast amounts of land make this an exceptional and romantic place to say “I DO.” A place that is so special that it has brought together some of the most well-known actors of the world and given them a wedding with a real “Hollywood movie” ending.
