Located in Urrugne, just 20 kilometers from Biarritz and San Sebastián, Machoenïa is an idyllic estate with a lot of history that is suitable for high-quality private and corporate events to be organized there. The property’s grounds feature an eighteenth-century farmhouse and stables that have today been converted into a dining room, being able to accommodate up to 170 people. In addition, there is an outdoor terrace measuring 250 m2 where a canopy can be installed to accommodate more people – up to a maximum number of 350 guests. Surrounding the two buildings are lush gardens and fields where horses graze, all guarded by the La Rhune Mountain, which can be ascended aboard a rack railway built in 1924.
The Bokado Group, a leader in miniature haute cuisine catering services in the Basque Country, is in charge of Machoenïa’s dining experience. Established in San Sebastián in 1996, this company has renowned firms and institutions amongst its customers: UEFA, BMW, the Real Sociedad, Carrefour, Irizar, and the Rafa Nadal Foundation. Bokado has handled the catering of events held in such emblematic places as the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao, Chillida Leku, the San Sebastián Aquarium, the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum, the Liria Palace, the Garment Museum of Madrid, the Salzburg Opera House, and the Spanish Embassy in Zurich, which have been visited by the King and Queen of Spain, prime ministers, governmental officials, and filmmakers such as Woody Allen and Javier Bardem. Thus, guests who attend weddings at Machoenïa enjoy delicacies like: shrimp and egg carpaccio, blood sausage with seasonal fruit, foie with roasted tomato and green bean gravy, cream of scarlet shrimp with crab ravioli, monkfish roasted in traditional style, venison tenderloin with a touch of roast apricot, and truffle mousse with almond bavaroise.
With this culinary display and the natural beauty offered by the estate made up of several hectares of land (guaranteeing total discretion), it is not surprising that the property has attracted the attention of local and international clients from places like the United Kingdom, the USA, Singapore, and Japan who have chosen it for all kinds of events: weddings, anniversaries, family celebrations, wine tastings, themed meals, gourmet dinners, product debuts, exhibitions, workshops, and fashion shows. Fashion is, in fact, an important element of Machoenïa’s history, as this was home to the iconic French couturier André Courrèges, who had a workshop on site where he created the ultra-modern designs that led his brand, Courrèges, to success.
