The Entrecanales Domecq family, whose connection to wine spans more than two centuries, opened a new chapter in their history in 2022 with the creation of La Casa Cosme Palacio. It is Spain’s first by invitation only accommodation — a private refuge conceived for very few, where time moves at a different pace. Set within the Cosme Palacio Winery estate —founded in 1894— and surrounded by manicured gardens, this intimate yet majestic house rises inside the historic building that was once home to the original winery, at the foot of the walled village of Laguardia. It features 13 uniquely designed rooms, along with a gym, wellness suite, heated pool, and a museum of traditional winemaking tools that invites guests to reconnect with the memory and essence of the vineyard.
The privilege of staying at La Casa includes thoughtful touches such as a 24-hour butler service, in-house chef, premium amenities, e-bike and four-wheeler routes among century-old vines, private tours of Laguardia, and exclusive access to the Cosme Palacio wine cellar, where historic wines quietly age. The team of hosts designs a tailor-made program of experiences for each guest. The range of activities is both wide and exquisite: sunrise yoga among the vines, cycling routes through vineyards, ceramics and floral alchemy workshops in the organic garden, Natura Bissé beauty treatments, forest bathing in nearby hills, golf days at some of northern Spain’s finest courses, hot-air balloon flights, sailing trips along the Basque coast, and private outings to explore the fortresses, monasteries, and castles of the La Rioja region.
This innovative hospitality concept has not gone unnoticed. In 2024, La Casa Cosme Palacio was named the World’s Best Accommodation Option at the prestigious Best of Wine Tourism Awards, organized by Great Wine Capitals. The accolade inspired the family to reveal another of its hidden treasures: Caserío de Dueñas, located in the heart of Castile and inside the Rueda Designation of Origin. A 300-hectare estate with lush gardens, native vineyards, and pine forests that guard a nineteenth-century manor house and a remarkable secret — a chapel leading to a labyrinthine underground wine cellar, a vestige of an ancestral way of understanding the land.
Together, these projects have breathed life into Las Casas de Entrecanales Domecq — a collection of singular residences where every traveler feels at home, surrounded by hospitality, the landscape, and tradition.
