Like an elegant and discreet jewel that shines yet is not ostentatious, González Larrauri jewelry has aimed to participate and collaborate in the social life of San Sebastián to the maximum extent of its possibilities. San Sebastián has evolved enormously since the time when Queen Maria Christina turned it into a city of recreation for the aristocracy, yet it has always maintained the spirit that characterizes it as a place of leisure. In keeping with the city’s evolution, González Larrauri has supported in one way or another the fundamentally cultural events that energize the city: the International Film Festival, which attracts the crème de la crème of the seventh art; the golf tournaments that take place in different clubs in Gipuzkoa; the Musical Fortnight, the oldest classical music festival in Spain; the traditional trainera boat races in the Bandera de La Concha (“Flag La Concha”) competition, the prestigious regatta held every September; and several editions of the San Sebastián Circuit Spirit, the classic car meeting reminiscent of the Lasarte motor racing circuit.
In addition to participating in sporting and cultural events, the jewelry shop collaborates with various non-profit organizations that fight against cancer and multiple sclerosis. They also support the Why Not Foundation, which aims to improve the quality of life of those with mental health problems, as well as the lives of their family members.
González Larrauri’s involvement in all these causes –and of course their expertise in the sale, transformation, and repair of fine jewelry– has led them to become an important player in San Sebastián society and a leading jewelry shop. The shop’s owners –the third and fourth generation of the same family at the helm of the business– regularly attend national and international fairs to select special pieces from amongst both large firms and small craftsmen – all in order to offer up a personal, tasteful selection, surprising regular customers and visitors with rings, earrings, pendants, necklaces, and bracelets for everyday use, as well as for the most special occasions in one’s personal life. Without neglecting their roots as a classical jewelry shop, and considering their carefully finished pieces of the highest quality, they have been able to become part of the current informal fashion world.
Watchmaking is another important aspect at González Larrauri. They represent renowned watchmaking brands like Frederique Constant, Ebel, Laurent Bruat, CT Scuderia, Victorinox, Alpina, Qlocktwo, and MeisterSinger. In fact, they undertook a joint project with the latter firm to create a watch that pays tribute to San Sebastián. A limited-edition piece featuring the silhouette of the city and a phrase that resonates deeply in the hearts of all San Sebastián residents: Donostia bat bakarra munduan (“There is only one San Sebastián and it is unique in all the world”).
