Founded in 1908, Benegas is one of the Basque Country’s most iconic and enduring establishments. The company was first set up as a men’s hair salon and perfumery with a notable British style, offering the most innovative French and English items of the time. Soon, Benegas attracted a distinguished clientèle — intellectuals, artists, and members of royalty who spent their summers in San Sebastián. Today, more than a century later, the third and fourth generations of the founding family continue to lead the business, placing even greater emphasis on perfumery and luxury beauty products.
The cosmetics department brings together prestigious brands such as Alleven, Nescens, and Codage, complemented by professional makeup services and a personalized facial and body treatment suite. Rituals here combine expert manual massage techniques with cutting-edge technology. For body lymphatic drainage treatments, they use innovative products from the Spanish brand Sepai. Meanwhile, for facial treatments, in addition to the aforementioned brand, they also apply products and protocols by Chanel and Nescens – a Swiss clinic which specializes in combating the signs of aging skin.
In the world of perfumery, Benegas showcases an exquisite selection of signature fragrances by Profumum Roma, Penhaligon’s, Ramón Monegal, Bohoboco, and Bdk Parfums. International luxury maisons, such as Acqua di Parma and Chanel, likewise hold a place of prominence. The Italian brand offers colognes, candles, diffusers, shaving accessories, and lotions, while the shop’s longstanding relationship with Chanel has made Benegas one of the few independent establishments worldwide to dedicate a space entirely to Les Exclusifs de Chanel — a collection of men’s and women’s fragrances inspired by episodes from the life of Mademoiselle Chanel.
In the 1990s, Benegas launched their own in-house cologne, featuring a combination of citrus and floral nuances made up of bergamot, lemon, orange blossom, lavender, and jasmine. Since then, the brand has expanded its range with new fragrances and soaps under the Benegas and Ssirimiri brands — collections with fresh creations set to debut this year, continuing to enrich the multisensory experience that defines the house’s refined vision of perfumery.
