BASQUE LUXURY HELICOPTER offers gastronomic and panoramic flights along the Basque coast
BASQUE LUXURY HELICOPTER is the first tourist helicopter flight service in the Basque Country. This novel initiative, which was presented in the summer of 2021 at the Akelarre Hotel of San Sebastián, allows tourists and locals to discover the region from a new perspective. Based at the San Sebastián airport, the company offers panoramic and gastronomic tours, as well as an exclusive helitaxi service.
The chopper used is a Robinson 44, which can seat one pilot and three passengers. With a range of 560 km, the aircraft can fly non-stop throughout northern Spain, southern France, and Andorra. It can land at airports, private estates, wineries (La Rioja, Ribera del Duero or Bordeaux wine regions, amongst others), and at numerous Michelin restaurants. The company also has a Bell 206 helicopter, an Ecureuil AS350, and an AgustaWestland AW109 for helitaxi services and VIP events.
The service’s debut was at the Akelarre Hotel, as this is one of the places where the helicopter lands on its gastronomic tours. Pedro Subijana’s three-star Michelin restaurant, the Laia roast house of Hondarribia and the Etxebarri roast house of Axpe complete the first three culinary tours, which include both the flight and a meal at the restaurants.
In additions to its gastronomic tours, BASQUE LUXURY HELICOPTER offers three panoramic tours that are 20, 35, and 55 minutes in duration and which travel over the coast and the interior of the Basque Country. The tours can also be customized to suit the client, being able to fly over any landmark of the Basque Country’s geography.
