The Atlantis boutique in San Sebastián, specializing in accessories and high-end bijou pieces, has just presented its first collection of timeless jewelry, named Perpetua, which combines classic and bohemian styles. This is an exclusive collection of earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces made in Spain and designed by Elisabeth Múgica and her daughter Clara Ortiz de Lanzagorta; an intergenerational project that combines Clara’s entrepreneurial spirit with her mother’s experience. The result is a new concept for jewelry that includes the beauty of nature and the sophistication of precious stones, and it is aimed at an intellectual, traveled, and cosmopolitan woman who appreciates art. Far from following the standards of traditional jewelry, they have sought out beautiful stones with imperfections and in their natural state, highlighting the intrinsic characteristics of the minerals themselves through faceting. This new jewelry brand is identifiable thanks to a blue sapphire –the distinctive color of the boutique– included on each piece.
Although this is Atlantis’s start in jewelry design, the boutique has a long tradition of creating custom hats and bags. Gill Connon, a Scotswoman living in San Sebastián with extensive experience in the world of fashion and theater costumes, is the one who manually manufactures this boutique’s general hats, wide-brim sun hats, and bags to suit the client.
Atlantis has made a name for itself in the city in terms of the creation of personalized accessories, but also in terms of the selection and sale of jewelry and accessories by local, national, and international firms and artisans. Among its latest additions are sheepskin and cowhide bags with a glossy finish made in Guernica, scarves by Miriam Ocariz, hand-painted earrings by the brand “Anna e Alex,” silk ties for women and men by Leonard, ponchos by Missoni, high-end bijou pieces in ethnic style by Satellite, boho chic jewels in brass with printed Washi paper, sleeves for mobile phones with designs by Gastón y Daniela, fans in pear tree wood and cotton fabric with designs by Bárbara Pan, large scarves by Leonard, silk kimonos by Italian firms, hats made in the Basque Country by Gorka González, fantasy bijou pieces featuring mother of pearl and gold by Dominique Denaive, and silk visors by Moschino. They also sell pieces by Gas Bijoux, Brokante, Etro, Elie Saab, Coolook, Anton Heunis, Mantero, Pellini, and Christian Lacroix.
Fine perfumes are likewise an important aspect at Atlantis: they work exclusively with Berdoues, the mythical French maison founded in 1902 which sells just eight Grands Crus simultaneously. The rotating and updating of these aromas has achieved the loyalty of a clientèle eager to discover the eaux de parfum proposed for each season, inviting the wearer to travel to different parts of the world unearthing fragrances made from exotic ingredients.
