Atlantis: Clara & Beth presents its second jewelry collection, inspired by the works of the Vienna Secession
In 2024, the jewelry collection “Nomadic” by the firm Clara & Beth was debuted in San Sebastián. Inspired by the vastness of ethnic landscapes and the fluidity of natural forms, these bracelets, earrings, and rings evoke the sensation of dunes moving with the wind and dancing waves on the sea. Pieces of jewelry that tell stories, capture moments, and invite you on an endless journey. Rocks, rounded stones, irregular textures, ancient cultures, tribal prints… there are many sources of inspiration that have helped shape the Nomadic line. It all started when Elisabeth Múgica and her daughter Clara Ortiz de Lanzagorta, the founders of the Clara & Beth brand, came across some fossils and decided to design a collection that included these remains of bygone organisms in conjunction with gold, antique silver, and colored tourmalines which provide a flash of light and energy to the pieces, offering a unique fusion that has caught the eye of those who value authenticity and individuality.
Nomadic is the second collection created by Clara & Beth. The first, called “Perpetual,” arrived in 2023 and is made up of bracelets, wrist bands, chokers, necklaces, rings and earrings that combine classic and bohemian styles, integrating the beauty of nature and the sophistication of precious stones. Far from following the standards of traditional jewelry, this collection is based on beautiful stones with imperfections in their natural state, highlighting the intrinsic characteristics of the minerals themselves through faceting – sapphires, labradorite, jade, rhodonite, tiger’s eye, amethyst, topaz. The collection has a very versatile nature and the jewelry can be used both on a daily basis and on special occasions.
While Nomadic brings one back to the works of the Vienna Secession, especially the golden age of Gustav Klimt, Perpetual evokes precisely the subsequent period, the 1920s. The style of both eras is very present at the Atlantis boutique run by Elisabeth Múgica and Clara Ortiz de Lanzagorta in San Sebastián, where, in addition to the brand’s own collections, they have high-end bijou pieces from niche European brands –Pellini, Gas Bijoux, Satellite, Suma Cruz– and major international brands. Another of the specialties at Atlantis is scarves. The boutique represents well-known names like Leonard, Elie Saab, Pascali, and Christian Lacroix – as well as local craftswomen like Miriam Ocariz and Mirian Saizar. The latter creator has designed, with her firm Misamu, an exclusive collection for Atlantis which draws its inspiration from the boutique and the city of San Sebastián. Shoppers can also find at the shop a wide range of small gifts, handcrafted brooches and accessories, candles (by Villa Hermanos and Ladenac), as well as perfumes from the Italian firm Anthologie, by perfumer Lucien Ferrero. Atlantis also offers a personalized bag and hat design service with the help of Gill Connon, a Scottish national who has made San Sebastián her home and who has vast experience in the fashion and theatrical costume sectors.
