Arrea! is the name of a new dining alternative that started its journey this year and which aims to prove that innovation, along with effort and zeal, still allow for great projects to be put into place in this day and age. This is an establishment located in the heart of the Montaña Alavesa region that Edorta Lamo, the brains behind this new concept, is using to get back to his most basic roots.
The restaurant is made up of three spaces (the tavern, the stables, and the dining room) where different types of culinary delights are on offer: “tapas,” platters to be shared, daily menus, and a set and fine-dining menu. Thus, the chef seeks to meet the needs of mountaineers, hunters, those passing through the area, the curious, mountain tourists, and fine-dining connoisseurs.
Boxwood spoons, charcoal, wild game, wild herbs, local vegetables, truffles, honey, and nearly extinct indigenous fruits are some of the tools and ingredients used by the chef to bring back a culture with its own flair that has been neglected, undervalued, and forgotten by most over the last few decades.
Thus, Arrea! is to make a local culinary commitment, aiming to boost –alongside other players, producers, craftsmen and craftswomen, and inhabitants– a village and mountain culture as an informative and attractive source of knowledge and consumption.
