Ana and Elena, founders of Anhelo, have been working for almost two decades on the artisan manufacture of high-end bijou pieces, hats, and accessories for women and girls. Their collection includes earrings, necklaces, brooches, turbans, headbands, hair combs, hair clips, scrunchies, Swarovski crystal bracelets, berets, and even hats decorated with partridge feathers.
Their boutique is located in a nineteenth-century building on Matia Street of San Sebastián, next to the Saint Sebastian the Martyr Church. The shop has two floors: one reserved for the atelier and the other for customer service. On the floor for the public, the establishment’s own accessories coexist with others by renowned international firms: umbrellas by Chantal Thomass –a renowned French lingerie designer– and jewels for handbags by Ladurée, among others. They also have a corner reserved for makeup, manicure and pedicure services in which they use only ecological cosmetics, essential oils, and nail polishes by the Madrid firm Handmade Beauty –suitable for people with celiac disease, those who suffer from allergies, pregnant women, and young girls– as well as by the American firm CND, which supplies vegan and 7-free products.
Beauty products and fragrances are another fundamental pillar of Anhelo: eaux de toilette by Maison Abriza; candles and fragrance diffusers by Sara Miller London; fabric refreshers and bio soaps by Kerzon; air fresheners, candles, and incense for the home by Ladurée; lipsticks, eye shadow, cosmetic compacts, and pouches by Paul & Joe Beauté; and Korean slow beauty cosmetics by firms like Aromatica and Mizon – vegan brands, barely scented and with high concentrations of active ingredients like snail mucin, among others.
They are also remarkable the eaux de cologne, soaps, and body lotions by Claus Porto; the perfumes by Papillon Rouge, Dr. Vranjes, and the alcohol-free line by Sabé Masson; the eaux de perfume, bath salts, and candles by the Italian Ortigia, as well as the exclusive fragrance diffusers and spray air fresheners by Un Soir à l’Opéra – a French firm that specializes in manufacturing fragrances inspired by the most famous operas and ballets.
The knowledge acquired by Ana and Elena from selling such refined fragrances for so many years brought them, three years ago, to launch their very own scented candle, Eleana, made with plant waxes and featuring a cotton wick with rose, violet, honey, lily, jasmine, and cypress essence. The excellent response from the public in terms of this initial fragrance has encouraged them to develop yet another format, now available in a spray air freshener.
