Can you imagine a hotel that is located in two municipalities at the same time? And we’re not talking about two adjoining cities but about a city and a small town separated by a distance of 20 km. That’s the new concept created by Arbaso Hotel, which offers its guests the possibility of staying in San Sebastián or Hondarribia. While 50 of its rooms are located in a historic building in the center of San Sebastián, its great suite (called Basalore) is located in the exclusive neighborhood of Jaitzubia in Hondarribia, next to the Royal Golf Club of San Sebastián.
Both accommodation options share a common philosophy: they are spaces where you can experience the essence of the surroundings and Basque culture with all five senses. This authenticity is perceived in the decoration of the rooms and common areas, designed with top-quality materials crafted by hand and equipped in turn with state-of-the-art technology. It is also perceived in the establishment’s gastronomy, which combines tradition and respect for local and seasonal ingredients with innovation and freshness in their presentation, as well as in the multiple activities (related with the four elements of nature) designed by the hotel’s team.
Although the similarities between Arbaso and Basalore are quite marked, this lodging establishment is also enriched by its differences. Arbaso is an urban hotel, with the classic services expected of a hotel of this category: a gym, wellness center, restaurant (called Narru), a bar, room service, and electric bicycles are available to guests, among other services. Basalore on the other hand provides guests with a stay in a private villa surrounded by 27 hectares of land. With five rooms, a kitchen, an indoor and outdoor dining area, a living room, and a reading and games room, this estate (which is always reserved as a whole and which features personalized services on demand) offers a stay that is more connected with nature, all the while with the degree of privacy longed for by many.
Thanks to all this, travelers can decide if they prefer to stay in the heart of San Sebastián (with all the bars, restaurants, and shops of the city quite at hand) or if they prefer to opt for immersion in the stillness of a private villa (ideal for families or groups of friends) in the border town of Hondarribia, having in both cases guaranteed an authentic experience linked to the region’s culture.
