Aquarium San Sebastián: much more than a museum full of aquatic jewels
Welcoming more than 300,000 visitors a year, the San Sebastián Aquarium is one of the most popular museums in the Basque Country and one of the five tourist resources with the highest influx of people. It is also considered one of the most important spaces for organizing events as it has 4,000 m² dedicated to holding conferences.
Its facilities include the Auditorium, the “Zona Blanca” (“White Zone”), the T and Nautilus rooms, the Walk Through, and the Oceanarium. Able to seat 164, the recently remodeled Auditorium is presided over by a spectacular aquarium of tropical fauna. The White Zone, in turn, has a terrace that overlooks the spectacular Concha Bay. If a more spacious room is needed to hold an event or an exhibition with a greater number of guests, the T room is a good alternative: this space measures 110 m² and can hold up to 100 people. The Nautilus room, measuring 58 m², is used for meetings, press conferences, coffee breaks, and cocktail receptions. The Walk Through is the path that travels over the three floors of the Aquarium, allowing guests to enjoy its 31 tanks. Lastly, the Oceanarium (with a capacity for 250 guests) is the glass tunnel measuring 18 meters in length which crosses through a tank with 1,500,000 liters of water and 7,000 fish which represent 47 different species. Each and every one of the building’s spaces are multipurpose and equipped with cutting-edge technology.
On the Aquarium’s upper level, the Bokado restaurant can be found. An establishment which, in addition to having yet another attractive space for meetings and celebrations (with a capacity for 200 guests), provides catering services for all the events.
The Aquarium’s conference and events department came to be as an exclusive service for institutions, companies, and individuals who are seeking to hire comprehensive event coordination services. Today, it has become a leader in conference and event organization in all of the Basque Country; a complex that houses one of the richest marine collections of the Cantabrian Sea and also offers a wide variety of spaces available to hold first-class events.
