Although the main factor that leads travelers to stay at the Akelaŕe Hotel of San Sebastián is its cuisine, recognized with three Michelin stars, its spa has also positioned the establishment as a leader in bodily wellbeing. Located on the first floor of the building and featuring magnificent views of the sea, the wellness area is accessible only to adults. The facility’s 800 m2 include a gym, treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, and a heated hydrotherapy pool.
The 24-hour gym is equipped with state-of-the-art machines by Technogym and it has weights, a treadmill, an exercise bike, an elliptical trainer, and a Kinesis fitness trellis. The pool comes complete with a treatment circuit featuring hydromassage jets, a hot tub, and waterfalls for the back.
The spa has three treatment rooms, one of which is a double room, where they perform facial treatments, body treatments, and therapeutic treatments with highly advanced cosmetics and products based on natural ingredients. They work with Sisley cosmetics, the prestigious Parisian brand that uses the active ingredients of plant extracts for skin protection and care. The range of treatments includes eight massages (relaxing, therapeutic, reflexology, hot stone, craniofacial, Zen, Ayurvedic, and Abhyanga), six facial treatments (perfecting, moisturizing, intense moisturizing, revitalizing, complete, and an anti-aging treatment for men), two body scrub treatments (one being a phytoaromatic treatment and the other being hydro-repairing), and four Akelaŕe experiences (called the “sensory journey,” “body and mind ritual,” “deep wellbeing,” and “sublime face and body ritual”). There are also packages designed for individuals not staying at the hotel that include access to the spa and a relaxing or therapeutic treatment of their choice.
Once the treatment or the pool circuit is finished, guests can enjoy an infusion prepared with different herbs and flowers (and created especially by Pedro Subijana for the spa) in the relaxation area, where there are loungers with sea views. These wellness and beauty care treatments are, without a doubt, at the level of the hotel’s gastronomy.
