Aburuza Cider House has been named the winner of the 25th Gipuzkoa Cider Competition, an annual contest organized by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa to recognize the finest natural cider produced in the region. This distinction reaffirms the cider house’s longstanding track record and consistent presence in one of the Basque cider industry’s most prestigious competitions, further cementing its position as one of Gipuzkoa’s leading cider producers.
The award-winning cider was crafted exclusively from native apple varieties protected under the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin, reflecting Aburuza’s commitment to quality, local produce, and the preservation of the Basque cider-making tradition. According to the cider house, the award represents “an enormous honor and a great source of motivation,” recognizing the team’s ongoing dedication to producing natural cider of the highest quality.
The competition jury evaluated technical criteria including the cider’s balance, aromatic expression, mouthfeel, and typicity—qualities that make this competition one of the industry’s most respected benchmarks.
Aburuza also expressed its gratitude to everyone who continues to place their trust in its ciders year after year, as well as to those discovering them for the first time. According to the cider house, this continued support reflects a growing appreciation for a product crafted with rigor, authenticity, and deep respect for tradition. This latest recognition encourages the team to continue working with the same passion, paying close attention to every detail while preserving the essence that has defined Aburuza since its beginnings.
