Aburuza is a family-run cider house in Aduna that has been crafting cider since the 1950s and has operated as a fully professional enterprise since 1987. Over the years, it has received numerous distinctions from the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin, a mark that guarantees the authenticity and excellence of its products. Its classic cider bears the Euskal Sagardoa label, while its premium product has earned the Euskal Sagardoa Premium seal. In addition, Aburuza was recognized at the Gipuzkoa Cider Competition with the award for Best Sparkling Cider in 2025, followed a year later by the award for Best Cider in 2026.
To this dedication to quality, Aburuza adds a culinary offering that pays tribute to Basque gastronomic culture. The traditional cider house menu —featuring cod omelette, fried cod with green peppers, grilled steak, and, as a finale, Idiazabal cheese with apple preserve, nuts, and Tolosa’s classic tejas (a crunchy, cookie-like almond snack) and cigarrillos (a similar crunchy snack that is rolled to somewhat resemble a cigarette)— is complemented by dishes such as cod in pil pil sauce, oven-roasted LumaGorri Eusko Label chicken, and grilled beef ribs, always prepared with local ingredients.

Seeking to share its savoir-faire beyond the table, Aburuza offers guided tours that reveal first-hand the cider-making process. The firm also designs experiences that weave together gastronomy, culture, and landscape: from visits to the Albaola Sea Factory of the Basques or a sixteenth-century farmhouse to excursions to the Tolosa Market, the Añana Salt Valley, and panoramic helicopter flights offering privileged views of the region.
With that same spirit of innovation, Aburuza has created Marmanzano, a unique experience that unites cider tradition with the marine wellbeing of the La Perla Thalassotherapy Center in San Sebastián — one of the most prestigious in Europe. The initiative offers three carefully selected options: a 25-minute massage, a two-hour spa treatment circuit (with saunas, Jacuzzis, jet pools, hydrotherapy beds, steam baths, and ice fountains), or the combination of both, each culminating in a meal washed down by cider.
Marmanzano has captivated those who seek more than a simple leisure activity. It appeals to those wishing to experience two practices deeply connected to the Basque identity: thalassotherapy (its history at La Perla dates back to 1912) and the age-old ritual of the cider house. By bringing these two worlds together (sea and cider, serenity and camaraderie), Marmanzano creates a unique experience that transcends the sum of its parts, inviting guests to rediscover the Basque Country through its most genuine traditions.
