Google’s offices in Silicon Valley, Pixar’s studios in San Francisco, New York’s Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Park Seo-bo Foundation in Seoul, the Gothic Nieuwe Kerk in Delft, the Palazzo dei Fiori in Venice, the Learning Center at the University of Vienna, Centro Canalejas in Madrid, Inditex’s headquarters in Arteixo, the Chillida Leku Museum in Hernani, and the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastián all share something in common: these iconic buildings are furnished with pieces by Stua, designed and crafted in the Basque Country. Founded in Astigarraga in 1983 by Jesús Gasca and Marina Quevedo and now led by the family’s second generation, Elena Gasca and Jon Gasca, Stua is globally recognized for its contemporary designs made from European raw materials — creations whose forms endure over time.
Among Stua’s many milestones (such as furnishing buildings designed by Zaha Hadid and Frank Lloyd Wright, and receiving Spain’s National Design Award), the brand now celebrates a new chapter with the opening of its new showroom and store in Astigarraga in 2025. This striking three-story building located beside the original factory embodies the company’s guiding spirit: the pursuit of timeless design. Embraced by the Urumea River and a lush bamboo grove, the showroom is a project by Jesús and Jon Gasca, whose interior engages in a serene dialogue with the surrounding landscape. Its grand façade features vast windows framed by black wooden slats finished using the traditional Japanese Yakisugi technique.
Inside, one floor is devoted entirely to home design and another to commercial spaces. Yet the building offers more than the mere display of furniture — it also serves as a space for culture and art, hosting temporary exhibitions by artists such as José Luis Cremades.
The showroom stands side by side with the factory, a deliberate choice that reflects Stua’s belief in the importance of staying close to its production facilities. Here, visitors can witness the brand’s team of master craftsmen at work — driven by their passion for quality, creating new classics for generations to come.
