There are few experiences comparable to the thrill of flying in a helicopter. Seeing natural and urban landscapes from a new perspective and having the freedom to move like a bird is something that mesmerizes everyone who tries it. In the Basque Country, BASQUE LUXURY HELICOPTER is the company in charge of taking visitors and locals to the heavens, allowing them to discover the region from a new perspective up high. This initiative first took to the skies in 2021, with a Robinson 44 helicopter which can seat one pilot and three passengers. After the success achieved, in 2022 a new model was added, the Bell 206 Jet Ranger B3, which has a capacity for four passengers. In 2023, yet another new addition was made, this time of a AS350 Écureuil, which can seat up to five.
BASQUE LUXURY HELICOPTER offers a helitaxi service for transfers to ports, airports, hotels, private estates, wineries, and restaurants in Spain, France, Andorra, and Portugal. The company also offers panoramic flights lasting 20, 35, and 55 minutes around both the inland and coastal Basque Country. These tours can be customized to suit the client’s taste. There are also culinary tours consisting of a direct flight to a restaurant where a menu is enjoyed. The Laia and Akelarre restaurants are two of these culinary destinations. In Laia’s case, the helicopter flies over Hondarribia, Pasaia, and San Sebastián for 15 minutes, finally landing in the establishment’s lawn. And in the case of the three-starred Michelin restaurant run by Pedro Subijana, the flight lasts 20 minutes and covers Hondarribia, Pasaia, San Sebastián, and Zarautz before landing at Akelarre’s heliport.
BASQUE LUXURY HELICOPTER also offers visits to wineries in the Rioja Alavesa region, such as Viñedos de Páganos, which has a helipad. In addition to enjoying a tasting of the firm’s best wines and visiting the winery (which is not open to the general public), the experience culminates with a tasting menu at the magnificent El Puntido restaurant.
