The Basque-Venezuelan artist Miguel Balliache has just opened a new creative space in San Sebastián. The name is “Balliache Espacio Arte,” a multifunctional gallery for artistic creation, dissemination, and exhibition.
Located in the Egia District, near the Tabakalera Center for Contemporary Culture, the new studio houses the artist’s creative workshop where he paints and sculpts. Likewise, the space is used as a gallery for the exhibition of pieces by Balliache himself, alternating with temporary exhibitions by other artists – with special emphasis on the work of Basque and Latin American creators.
Another of the pillars on which “Balliache Espacio Arte” rests is integration into the neighborhood, with the space aiming to become a fundamental player in the life of the local community. To accomplish this, the artist organizes painting and ceramics workshops, as well as courses on the development of creative processes. These are exceptional opportunities to get to know firsthand the techniques used by Balliache and, above all, to delve deeper into his expressionist universe, which differs greatly from the Basque plastic tradition.
Miguel Balliache is an established artist who has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Venezuela, the USA, Spain, and Ireland and his work is present in private art collections all over America, Europe, and Asia.
